Obras rabínicas sefardíes publicadas en Belgrado: un rico pasado judío cayendo en el olvido

Entre los numerosos libros publicados en Belgrado entre los años 1837 y 1905, hay aproximadamente 60 obras judeoespañolas escritas por autores sefardíes dispersos por el Imperio otomano y la cuenca mediterránea. Con excepción de algunas novelas, libros de historia, gramáticas de lengua hebrea y un método para el aprendizaje del alemán, la mayoría de las obras judeoespañolas publicadas en Belgrado es de carácter religioso. La mayor parte de la producción literaria escrita por rabinos en judeoespañol fue impresa en letras hebreas llamadas rasíes, lo que hace estas obras únicas pero a las que no es fácil acceder: las obras de contenido rabínico son una valiosa fuente de información sobre la vida y obra de autores sefardíes religiosos, la vida piadosa de los sefardíes dispersos por las distintas comunidades judías de los Balcanes, sus costumbres locales y diferentes maneras de aplicar la ley judía.
Mientras que un importante inventario y estudio de los libros judeoespañoles en serbio con el título Libros judíos publicados en Belgrado 1837–1905 fue publicado en 1990 por Ženi Lebl, las obras citadas aún no han sido investigadas debidamente por los investigadores. El presente artículo pretende revisar el catálogo de Lebl, identificar las obras rabínicas legales y morales relevantes, como asimismo los libros de oraciones, escritos en judeoespañol y publicados en Belgrado, y de esa manera arrojar luz sobre la imprenta judía en Serbia y la producción literaria de los más destacados rabinos sefardíes del siglo xix provenientes de los Balcanes y de las zonas colindantes.
