La trayectoria socio-ecológica de la República de Macedonia: estatus, tendencia y recomendaciones

A pesar de su pequeña extensión geográfica, la República de Macedonia es una de las regiones europeas más ricas en biodiversidad; lo que surge como resultado de la interacción entre su geología, topografía y clima variados además de su posición geográfica. En los últimos años, este patrimonio natural está sufriendo una creciente amenaza antropogénica con consecuencias no deseadas no solo para su flora y fauna sino también para la población humana. Este artículo resume los patrones y tendencias en el sistema socio-ecológico de Macedonia, analizando como los factores económicos, sociales y políticos se relacionan con los paisajes, las especies y ecosistemas en la actualidad. Por último, el articulo también ofrece unas breves recomendaciones sobre cómo se podría mejorar dicha relación.
