La disputa greco-macedonia por el nombre, desde una perspectiva comparada

La disputa entre Grecia y la República de Macedonia acerca del nombre de este último Estado reviste a día de hoy una importancia crucial, no tanto porque constituya un serio escollo en las relaciones entre ambos países, sino sobre todo por haberse convertido en un obstáculo hasta ahora insalvable para la inserción de Macedonia en varios relevantes foros internacionales de los que Grecia forma ya parte y respecto de los cuales dis- pone de derecho de veto, entre los que destacan la Unión Europea y la OTAN. El presente trabajo pretende poner esta disputa en una perspectiva comparada, que permita dotarnos una visión más global de cómo problemas semejantes se han resuelto en otros lugares de Europa, un continente en el que las fronteras han cambiado tan a menudo, dependiendo con más frecuencia del desenlace de los enfrentamientos bélicos y de los intereses estratégicos de las grandes potencias que de la tradición y de la voluntad de las personas afectadas.
