Abstract

Drawing conclusions about Montenegro today, 20 years after the disappearance of Yugoslavia, is not possible without first saying something about its particular previous path. Firstly, because it has experienced two disintegrations, the first, of the great Yugoslav union and, then, the other, its union with Serbia, with whom it maintained state relations for the longest time. Montenegro on a territorial and demographic level is the smallest of all the republics of the former Yugoslavia. It is a small Adriatic republic, with beautiful nature and excellent resources, but also with a great history of which its inhabitants are proud.
